Hal Turner EP462 and Randall McNeal EP379 Reunite in Houston! July 18, 2009
Randall McNeal, my Big Brother, and I are pictured in this photo taken in Houston, Texas where Randall resides. We have spent last evening and this afternoon catching up on 35 years. Randall has kept all these years the Big Brother "paddle" I made for him in 1968/69 (I am holding it)... we have rediscovered why we were the best of friends then and will be now ... Randall is on the left and I am on the right.
Brothers Calvo and Trammel at the Varsity
A Peachy Day to Run the Peachtree Road Race! July 4, 2009
Sammy Kitwara likes to run out front, with the pack on his heels, pushing him. Unfortunately for Kirwara, he could not catch up with the pack of brothers Calvo and Trammell on Saturday in the 40th Atlanta Journal-constitution Peachtree Road Race.
Amid mild weather condition, brothers Calvo and Trammell ran a personal best of 27.22 to once again win the 6.2-mile race, blistering the field by 40 seconds.
"I like the course, " said the 56-year old Calvo who was making his third start in the race with Brother Trammell in Atlanta. "Not used to running alone, I pushed myself."
Though temperature were in the low 70s with 63 percent humidity when the race started, both brother Calvo and Trammell said conditions were hot and very humid, prompting a stop at the Black Bear Tavern, just across from Piedmont Hospital for a four Bloody Mary and burrito breakfast before completing the race. " I should have seen my cardiologist, but there just was not time." said brother Calvo.
After the race, brothers Calvo and Trammel held their annual post race win victory luncheon at the Varsity, consisting of a couple of heavy dogs, an order of onion rings and an Orange Slushy. "It was very tight," Trammell said. "but I'm very happy. Very excited to have competed in such a great race."
Both runners said they would be returning to defend their titles in 2010.

Outside of work, she serves as President of the Olde North Charleston Neighborhood Council and Secretary for both the City of North Charleston Citizen's Advisory Council and the Olde North Charleston Merchants Association.
Randy is also a native of South Carolina having grown up in Kershaw. He also attended USC in Columbia from '68 to '72 and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Like Cindy, he spent decades in the restaurant business as a franchisee of Waffle House and Po Folks. He is now the owner of Coats and Son Lawn Care and enjoys living near his two children, Corbett, a graduate of Charleston School of Law, and Duran, a Staff Seargent in the USMC who currently attends the Citadel.

Carson Norcross - Natalie Addis Wedding October 11, 2008
Carson (945) and Natalie Addis Norcross
Carson Norcross EP945
The marriage of Natalie Kay Addis and Carson Albert Norcross took place Saturday October 11, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Santa Barbara, CA. Officiating ministers were Dr. Hillary Chrisley & The Reverend Dean Barley. The bride was escorted by her father, Gerald William Addis. Maid of Honor was Haley Marie Addis, sister of the bride. Matron of Honor was Tamera Dawn Lawler, sister of the bride. Best Man was Robert Kenneth Hall. The Brides parents are Gerald William Addis and Shiela Kay Addis of Moorpark, CA. The Grooms parents are Mark Albert Norcross and Rena Ritch Norcross of High Point, NC.
The brides attendants were Katherine Norcross (sister of groom), Tiffany Fadem (friend of bride), Heather Hofius (friend of bride), Stacey Navaro (friend of bride), Laurie McRainey (cousin of groom), Lisa Triguero (cousin of groom). The groomsmen were Austin Carty (friend of groom), Michael Brown (friend of groom), Alex Imgrund EP 951, Chris Hopper (friend of groom), Jon Simmons EP 947.
The reception was held at the Four Seasons Biltmore in the La Pacifica Ballroom.
After a wedding trip to Isla Mujeres, an island off the coast of Cancun, Mexico, the couple will live in High Point, NC.
With a degree in hospitality and a job with his family?s furniture business, Epsilon Psi Zeta member and USC graduate Carson Norcross is turning two of his passions into a successful career. Carson graduated in 2002 with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management and is now proudly working as the director of brand sales for Mark David, his family?s furniture manufacturing company. Carson and his family donated much of the furniture that is located on the first floor of the chapter house.
Carson originally planned to go into the hospitality field, and USC?s College of HRSM seemed like a good fit. "I visited a few schools, but USC really caught my attention," says Carson. He explains that the members of the faculty that he met were one of the reasons he chose to study at USC.
After graduating from USC, Carson worked in the hospitality field in various hotels, including the Four Seasons in Washington, D.C., and the W Hotel in Times Square.
"Although at first I felt the hospitality industry was my future, it just seemed right to go into furniture manufacturing," says Carson of his career switch. "I am a third generation furniture family member."
As director of brand sales for Mark David, Carson now directs the sales initiatives of selling various brands of furniture to international hotel brands including Disney and Marriott. Carson says that although his work is not directly part of the hospitality field, his HRTM degree has greatly prepared him for his job.
"I manufacture and sell to the hospitality industry," explains Carson. "Also, having the HRTM training helps me with the functionality of our product. Because I worked in the Four Seasons and the W Hotel, I better understand guest trends and activities. This equips me with knowledge that can add value to our furniture," he adds.
Carson says that his father Mark, CEO of Mark David, has served as both a role model and a mentor. "I am very fortunate to be working for him, as he has taught me so much," says Carson.
As for students currently in the HRTM program, Carson says that getting as much experience as possible is crucial. He says that there is nothing like an internship to gain experience and knowledge about the field. He also advises students to take advantage of their time in college but to keep looking ahead.
"Use this time to learn a lot, experience a lot, and have a great time doing it," Carson says. "However, there are plenty more experiences to be had!"
Carson spent four years living in China and the Philippines, but he is now back in High Point, N.C. and says that he is happy to be home. "I couldn't think of a better place to live than in the South," he says.

Calvo and Trammell Win 39th Atlanta Peachtree Road Race!
On July 4, 2008, brother's Sid Calvo (429) and Jim Trammell (476) won for the second year in a row the Atlanta Peachtree Road race with a wining time of 28:29, edging out Terefe Maregu of Ethiopia 28:30 and Peter Kamasi 28:38 of Kenya. When asked about their winning strategy, brother's Calvo and Trammell commented, "It must have been the five Bloody Mary's and breakfast burrito's at Uncle Juilo's that did the trick!". With 55,000 runners, it is the world's grandest 10K.
After receiving congratulations from the Mayor of Atlanta, Sister Shirley Franklin, Brother's Calvo and Trammell headed for the Varsity for a celebration luncheon.

Epsilon Psi Zeta Alumni Answer Campaign for Purchase of Deep Freezer! May 8, 2008
On May 1, 2008 a campaign was begun to raise funds for the purchase of a commercial deep freezer for the food service operations of the chapter. Our current freezer is just not adequate to serve the needs of the operation.
A request was sent out, asking for donations in the amount of $25, 50, 75 or $100, expecting that it would take the entire summer to raise the amount needed to purchase the unit before the Fall/2008 semester.
Answer the call, you did. By Thursday $3,150 had been committed, and the unit was purchased, with delivery expected the week of May 12. An outstanding response from brothers that are still committed and loyal to the chapter.

Abby Bray, EP 530 Appointed Athletics Director and Head Football Coach of Brookland-Cayce High School
Brookland-Cayce hires Bray as AD, coachAfter eight years away from sideline, longtime teacher and assistant earns the top jobs
Abbott “Abby” Bray, Jr., a social studies teacher and former coach at Brookland-CayceHigh School, has been hired as the school’s next football coach-athletics director, beginning July 1.Bray replaces longtime coach-athletics director Brad Coleman, who resigned Nov. 23.“In Lexington 2, "we typically review all our in-house candidates,” Dr. Venus Holland said. “If we believe there is one who is capable of doing the position, and all other things are equal, then the in-house candidate is the person selected.” Holland, the superintendent-elect of LexingtonSchool District 2, said Bray’s name was chosen from a field of 22 applicants and he was recommended to the school board before its meeting Monday night. Bray had been an assistant under four coaches. He was the team’s defensive coordinator at the time of Coleman’s arrival eight years ago but resigned and has not coached since, he said. “At that time, I made a decision to just get out (of coaching) for awhile,” Bray said Tuesday. “I wasn’t bitter at him; it wasn’t a personal thing with him at all. I felt like it was time to back away.” A 1975 B-C graduate, Bray has never taught or coached anywhere else in his 19-year career as an educator. “I really didn’t want to go anywhere else,” he said. “I could have gone somewhere else to a smaller school and been a head coach in a couple of years, but I grew up a block from the school. My father graduated from B-C in 1952. ... It’s in my blood.”

"I came back on campus a few days early to get ready for rush; I was the Rush chairman, it had to be August 2001. I made the sign in the garage of a good friend of the chapter. His name was Derek Goode; he was best friends with one of our brothers, Wes Huffman 956, and hung out with us all of the time. He transferred to USC in his sophomore year and could not rush because he was a TKE at Furman.
That sign hung outside the chapter house for a couple of years; I have no idea if it's still there or not."
